  • How to Earn Money from Travel Blogs

I receive many questions on how to earn money from the travel blog, So I thought I’d give you my methods of making money from my travel blog to give you a picture of how everything is done.

Many people see the word “travel blogger” and think it’s the most easy job you can get. It’s easy to start a blog about travel, and then you get money to write and travel. It’s not so simple.

Being able to run a successful blog about travel requires lots of hard work and dedication. It took me more than an entire year to get to the point of earning an average monthly income of $1,000 through the travel site I run.

The most basic and straightforward way to earn money from my blog about travel is via advertising. As a blogger, you may join an ad-based network, and they will display advertisements on your website. Then, you will be compensated based on the RPM, which is the rate of profit per 1000 impressions your ads get.

While advertisements aren’t the most appealing thing to look at, they’re an excellent opportunity to earn money since they’re so inactive. As long as people visit the blog post, it will make money. Naturally, you require an impressive amount of visitors to your blog in order to ensure that ads are a reliable way to make money.

There are several ad networks that you can sign up for with no volume of traffic (like Google AdSense), but the compensation is so low you can earn just a little or nothing from the advertisements. This is the reason I suggest that bloggers who are new to blogging stay away from advertisements until they’ve got enough visitors to be able to join the best ad networks.

I’m on Mediavine, and they’re one of the top advertising networks for bloggers. Mediavine requires at least 25,000 sessions per month to be eligible for. Another alternative could be Monumetric (which is the advertising network I worked with prior to Mediavine), which needs 10,000 monthly pageviews in order to apply.

    Affiliate Marketing

Another way that I earn money through this blog about travel is via affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing involves promoting products that you already have and enjoy, as well as making a small amount of money every time someone buys something through your affiliate link.

Here are my affiliates with the highest earnings that I have listed on Wander Her Way:

Amazon (I recommend products for travel from Amazon often on my blogs. For instance, my Disne and World list of packing items includes hyperlinks to Amazon.).

Leisure Pass (I wrote detailed reviews on both the New York Pass as well as the London Pass).

Affiliates of blogging (I offer products related to blogging, such as Web hosting as well as WordPress themes. For instance, check out my guide to how to create an online Travel blog.).

Skyscanner (this is an engine for booking flights I frequently suggest in my blogs).

When someone clicks an affiliate link and completes purchases, I earn a portion of the purchase. (This could range between 1% and 40%, based on the item.).

This online course comes from Michelle Blogger Michelle, who earns $50,000 per month through affiliate marketing. In this course, she shares her top tips and strategies to make money.

    Sponsored Posts

Another way that I earn money from my blog about travel is by advertising posts.

Sometimes, I work with a travel brand to create sponsored content for my blog. I am compensated for the content, typically around a few hundred dollars.

I do not actively search for sponsored posts and will only consider one if the brand first approaches me.

But you can earn good cash through paid posts (some bloggers make thousands of dollars each month), Particularly when you’re active and are able to pitch brands on your own. You can also join influencer groups and look for opportunities to post sponsored posts to apply for.

Sponsored posts could be blog posts or posts on social media (especially those on Instagram.).

I do not use Instagram for my travel-related blog, but I am aware of many Instagram influencers and bloggers who earn good income through collaboration with companies.

    Freelance Services

The last way I earn money through the travel website is by offering services as a freelancer.

I collaborate with a couple of other travel writers to assist bloggers with their blogging tasks, for example:

Making pins and uploading them to their Pinterest account.

Writing and researching articles for their blog or newsletter.

Making quizzes that they can use to increase their email lists.

This is an excellent opportunity to earn cash indirectly through the blog you run.

The method I have used to get my freelance work is simply by commenting or contacting other bloggers that I follow when they mentioned they wanted to hire an assistant for their project.

Other Methods to Earn Money through a Travel Blog

I’ve shared four ways I earn money from my blog about travel. However, there are many other ways to make money from blogging.

Here are some other ways to monetize the travel-related blog you have created. I haven’t yet tried all of them, but they’re all viable options to earn money from a travel blog:

    Sponsored Travel

Some travel bloggers collaborate with tourism or travel brands. Boards for sponsored travel.

This could be in the shape of a press trip or another campaign. Certain of them are not paid (but all expenses related to travel are paid) to get publicity by the blogger. But, many bloggers agree to a higher fee for sponsored trips.

    Selling Products

Making your product is a fantastic method to earn money from blogging.

For instance, Kiersten from The Blonde Abroad sells several Photo editing presets for Lightroom that allow you to edit your travel pictures just as she does.

Digital products such as Lightroom ebooks, presets, online courses, and more. Are extremely well-known.

Certain bloggers also sell physical items areincluding travel gear or printed books.
