Everybody goes to Bali Bali, a beautiful island (don’t be fooled! ). However, it’s been afflicted by excessive tourism and development for a long time.
If you go towards another island of Indonesia, You can view smoldering volcanoes, sulfur lakes, sandy beaches with pink hues, tropical rainforests, diverse wildlife, and many more.
Because Indonesia has become my home away from home (and my wife’s actual home! ), We’ve had the privilege of exploring this gorgeous country, including a few of the most remote Indonesian islands.

Best Things To Do In Indonesia

It is accessible by car for about a half-day from Jakarta. There are several friendly accommodation options near the waterfalls.
One of the most impressive waterfalls in Indonesia can be found in the Ponot Waterfall in North Sumatra. It is a massive three-step waterfall located near the famed Lake Toba, and it is more than 250 meters (820 feet)!
Watch The Wildlife
Indonesia is home to more than 20 percent of all species of animals in the world. There’s plenty of native wildlife in this region that isn’t found in other places.
It is possible to see the world’s most giant lizards at Komodo Island, bugs-eyed tarsiers in the Tangkoko Reserve in Sulawesi will,d orangutans at Bukit Lawang in Sumatra, and, of course, the macaques of the world-famous Ubud monkey forest situated in Bali.

Another great place worth visiting is Kawah Putih in West Java and the three lakes that makeup Mount Kelimutu in Flores.

Explore A Cave
Limestone mountains are prevalent throughout Indonesia. Consequently, there are many stunning caves, too.
It is possible to explore the gleaming limestone caves at Rammang Rammang, located in Sulawesi, or dip in a turquoise pool in the Rangko Cave in Flores. In Tana Toraja, these shelters continue to be used for burials as ritual tombs today.
One of the caves from prehistoric times located in Sulawesi also has the oldest known cave art created by humans, which we found interesting!
Go Diving & Snorkeling
Indonesia forms part of the Coral Triangle, a tropical ocean paradise with most of the world’s corals and fish species.
Naturally, it’s an excellent spot to go snorkeling or diving, and you’ll see many species of corals, colorful fish, sea turtles, manta rays, and. If you’re lucky, you might even swim with a whale shark!
We’ve had great luck snorkeling all over the region of Indonesia. However, our top choice would be Belitung Island in the south of Sumatra.
Relax On The Beaches
If people think of beautiful beaches in Asia, people think of Maldives or Thailand but not Indonesia.
Indonesian beaches are fantastic. However, they are often underrated because many of the excellent ones are hidden in remote areas that don’t have easy access. However, this means you’re more likely to get the beach all to yourself!
After exploring the area, you’ll discover stunning white sand beaches, stunning coral beaches, black volcanic beacheses, top-quality surf spots, and sometimes stunning rocks, cliffs, and shipwrecks.
Visit A Lighthouse
Lighthouses may not be the first thing that pops into your forefront when considering Indonesia. However, it has a few beautiful lighthouses.
Two excellent sexamples are the colonial Dutch lighthouse on Lengkaus Island in Belitung and the newly constructed lighthouse on Pulau Karang in Sumatra.
